Hussain Sajwani: A Brilliant Property Developer and a Philanthropist

Back in the days when Dubai was nothing but just a small fishing port and a huge chunk of desert, Young and energetic Hussain Sajwani was busy supplying food to the American military in the first Golf War.

The food business was the first of his business expertise. In the mid 90’s, he branched into a new and a very lucrative business that would, later on, transform Dubai to the highest peak. Real estate was his new business, and during that period, he had built several hotels that were aimed at accommodating an increasing number of people flocking the emirates to trade and do business.

Later on, in 2002, Hussain Sajwani identified a huge market potential in real estate and formed DAMAC Properties. The company is one of the biggest property development institutions in the in Dubai. The company has an employee base of 2000 currently and has managed to work on several big budget projects in UAE.

The company has managed to collaborate with big names including the luxury villas styled by Bugatti, the luxury apartments with interiors done by the Versace and Fendi, leading Italian fashion houses. The latest high-profile collaboration was that with the Trump Organization, which is a Tiger Woods designed state-of-the-art golf course.

Hussain Sajwani and Donald Trump’s collaboration has seen the two rakes in almost $2 billion in sales of the luxury villas in the Trump International Golf Club. They do however maintain a friendship outside work and their families have remained close.

DAMAC Properties mainly focuses on developing luxury villas, apartments, and hotels around the UAE. Back in 2011, DAMAC Maison, which is a hospitality division that will be providing bespoke services to the residents of over 12,000 apartments.

Other than being an established business man, Hussain Sajwani is also a philanthropist. His charitable work has mainly been to help the government of UAE improves the standard of living of its citizens. The latest act of charity was when he donated AED two million to a campaign that was aimed at clothing one million deprived children across the world. This initiative was launched by the Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Hussain Sajwani has earned respect and admiration from both his peers and colleagues. He remains an idol for many young people who wish to follow his footsteps.
