Kinetic Sculpture Race. The human powered vehicles travel on the water during the second day of the race. If needed, sherrifs boats and the Coast Guard are on hand. Many fans take photos of the race.
The Red Rocket is a swift boat. Paddles are added to the wheels for this part of the journey.

This Model "A" Ford is typical of the vehicles, built for art, not for speed. Propultion is provided by a stern wheel, just like a Mississippi River Boat.

After rowing or paddleing the distance, the crews remove and deflate flotation devices. Many are made by WING inflatables, an Arcata company.
