Eureka Peace March... Polka For Peace...
Every year the community of Eureka California comes together for an anti-war protest March. Starting in 2003, before the Invasion of Iraq, we have gathered in huge numbers... about ten percent of the total population attends...
We meet at the veterans hall
Redwood Peace coalition donated this fine balloon It is quite the festive occasion, emotional...
I've always felt that it's fun to meet friends that I only run into at the Peace Marches, and yet, it's sad that the message is not getting thru to our government. They seem to be ignoring the opinion of the vast majority of the people in the USA. Maybe we should try a different approach. We've tried protest marches...
We've tried democracy... electing Democrats to both the House and the Senate and that didn't work... maybe it's time to ask a "Weatherman" to help... we know which way the wind is blowing... Whole families protest theWar.

At the end of the peace march we stopped and listened to speeches at the town center. The next year the speeches were replace by a punk rock band... We observed a moment of silence to mourn the dead, and then a moment of NOISE to mourn the dead... pure punk rock noise...
What's a "Weatherman"??? The Weathermen was a U.S. Radical Left group consisting of splintered-off members and leaders of the Students for a Democratic Society which formed on the campus on the University of Michigan in the 1960s. (They took their name from a line from the Bob Dylan song 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.") The group referred to itself as a revolutionary organization of women and men whose purpose was to carry out a series of attacks that would achieve the revolutionary overthrow of the Government of the United States. Timothy Leary: The group also took a $25,000 payment from a psychedelics distribution organization called The Brotherhood of Eternal Love to break LSD advocate Timothy Leary out of prison, transporting him to Algeria. Leary joined Eldridge Cleaver in Algeria; his initial press release contains revolutionary rhetoric sympathetic to the Weather Underground's cause. When Leary was eventually captured by the FBI, it is alleged he offered to serve as an informant to capture the Weather Underground members to reduce his prison sentence. Others, such as Robert Anton Wilson, claim he was just feeding false information to the authorities in an attempt to reduce his sentence. Ultimately no one was charged, and Leary served a few more years in prison.

"Thou Shalt Not Kill" | Quite often I wonder what could have possesed Bush and made him want to blow up Iraq? Well, we will never know except that he said God told him to Smite Saddam... Could it have NOT been God but in fact be... "he who shall not be named" Maybe an Exorcism would help. |
Here is a playground made out of re-cycled bombers... a really good idea... pass it on.
Shouldn't we have MAJORITY RULE ELECTIONS FOR PRESIDENT ? It just seems right that the Presidential candidate that gets the most votes should win... Well, we don't have that system. Our Electoral College system allows a loser to become 'resident... AL GORE GOT MORE VOTES THAN GEORGE BUSH. We are all so very sorry now... The ELECTORAL CONGRESS FLUNKED OUT. We wouldn't be in such a mess today if that ancient system hadn't let THE SUPREME COURT appoint the 'resident... Repeal the Electoral College System... an idea whose time has passed...
We can thank George Bush for one thing... DOUBLING GASOLINE PRICES... That makes Ethanol and Biodiesel more competatively priced. If George can just get gas to $5.00 a gallon... what a wonderful world it would be... GO ! GO ! GO ! Who benefits from the war profiteering of gasoline ? Sure, EXXON, Mobil and Chevron get record profits, but THE US GOVERNMENT GETS RECORD TAX PAYMENTS FROM THOSE CORPORATIONS. Basic criminology says: follow the money... The US government got to keep some of the extra money you and I paid for gas. |
